The Asheville Chamber Music Series (ACMS) will be presenting a distinguished roster of internationally acclaimed ensembles for its 2018-’19 season.
The season includes the Aspen String Trio, Calidore String Quartet, Trio Karenine (Piano Trio), Takács String Quartet & Pianist Garrick Ohlsson, Ying Quartet & Cellist Zuill Bailey, and Asheville’s Schubertiade. Concerts will be held at both the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Asheville and the Diana Wortham Theatre.
“These events will surely highlight the important role that the Asheville Chamber Music Series plays as one of Asheville’s leading music presenters,” says ACMS President, Valerie Poullette Altman. “As part of this outstanding season, we are pleased to be hosting the acclaimed Takács String Quartet & pianist Garrick Ohlsson who will perform at the Diana Wortham Theatre during the week-long Amadeus Festival in Asheville. A special concert, not part of our regular series, will include Asheville’s Schubertiade featuring Noah Bendix-Balgley, First Concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmoniker; Peter Wiley, a Grammy nominated cellist, and Robert Levin, a world-renowned pianist. This will be a season to remember!”
For over six decades, the ACMS has taken its place as a valued cultural resource in Asheville, bringing world-renowned chamber artists to the city. As one of the nation’s oldest continuous performing chamber music organizations, it has been recognized for its outstanding programs and for its unique educational component through a collaboration with the strings program of the Asheville Buncombe Schools and other cultural partners in the community, including the Asheville Young Musicians Club.
Season tickets are available for $175 each, individual tickets are $40 for concerts at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation and $42 for the concert at Diana Wortham Theatre.
