Asheville Completes Sweep in Convincing Fashion

The Asheville Tourists are playing some of their best baseball in 2018. Asheville won for the fifth straight day and swept the Greensboro Grasshoppers with a 7-1 series-ending win.

The Tourists did not trail at any point during the series. Asheville beat Greensboro 12 times in 14 matchups this year.

Casey Golden and Taylor Snyder gave the Tourists a 2-0 lead with a pair of second inning solo Home Runs. Asheville added three more in the third inning on three consecutive two-out RBI hits from Golden, Todd Czinege , and Matt McLaughlin .

The Tourists also had some offense late in the game. Jeff Moberg hit a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning and Nic Motley blasted a solo Home Run in the eighth. Asheville finished the game with ten hits.

The pitching was impressive once again. Frederis Parra notched the win by tossing six innings and scattering eight hits. Parra allowed only one run while the right-hander recorded five strikeouts. Derrik Watson and Hunter Williams combined for three perfect innings out of the bullpen with six strikeouts.

Asheville matched their longest winning streak of the year with this recent victory. Following the off day on Tuesday, the Tourists return home Wednesday to open up a three-game set against their northern division rivals; the Hickory Crawdads. This will be the first and only series between Asheville and Hickory this year.
