Entry Deadlines Approaching for 2018 N.C. Mountain State Fair

Entry deadlines are quickly approaching for several competitions at the 2018 N.C. Mountain State Fair. The 25th edition of the fair runs Sept. 7-16 at the WNC Agricultural Center in Fletcher.

“For 25 years, the N.C. Mountain State Fair has provided competitions for everyone from established farmers to 4-H students,” said Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler. “This year’s fair will offer nearly $400,000 in premium money in competitions ranging from livestock and horticulture to cooking contests and gospel singing.”

Cooking contests will be held daily throughout the fair. Nearly every contest is sponsored by a state commodity association, such as the N.C. Egg Association, N.C. Pork Council and N.C. Apple Growers Association. The only exception is the live Dutch Oven Cook-off held September 15th, which is sponsored by the Mast General Store and Lodge Dutch Ovens.
