GreenWorks 6th Annual Root Ball on Saturday, Sept. 29

Celebrate a clean and green environment with GreenWorks at a party by the river on Saturday, September 29 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

While coordinating more than 200 projects with over 3,000 volunteers each year, the Asheville GreenWorks staff rarely takes time to relax, reflect and enjoy themselves — which makes the annual Root Ball all the more special.

The Root Ball boasts one of the most unique silent auctions featuring the best in outdoor gear, gift baskets, and trips in Western North Carolina. Guests can bid on items from zip line canopy tours, to top-of-the-line kayaks, to cruiser bikes, to personal consultations with wildflower gardening experts. A raffle of native perennial trees and shrubs offer quality plants for the fall planting season.

Guests will also enjoy delicious food prepared by Cooking with Comedy with Hickory Nut Gap Farm meat and Smiling Hara Tempeh, while dancing to live music and enjoying local craft brews from Oskar Blues and New Belgium Brewery. Raffle prizes and amazing silent auction items. It is truly fun for the whole family.

“This is one of the few times each year that we get to hang out with GreenWorks volunteers when we’re not getting dirty planting trees or hauling tires out of the river,” says Executive Director Dawn Chávez. “The popularity of the event year after year shows that volunteers and supporters enjoy this opportunity as well.”
