Women’s March on Asheville Set for Sunday, Jan. 20

The annual Women’s March on Asheville returns to downtown Asheville on Sunday, January 20 from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm. The march begins at Pack Square and continues to MLK Park where a series of speakers and musical acts take the stage.

Participants will once again be the progressive march heard across the Western North Carolina region uniting people of all ages regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation, or religious beliefs. The mission of Women’s March is to harness the political power of diverse women and their communities to create transformative social change. Women’s March is committed to dismantling systems of oppression through nonviolent resistance and building inclusive structures guided by self-determination, dignity and respect.

The kickoff event at 11:00 am includes appearances by Mayor Esther Manheimer and Senator Terry Van Duyn. Once the march reaches MLK Park the event concludes with speeches by Chelsea White, Mandy Carter, Allison Scott, and Dr. Elizabeth Colton as well as musical performances by Rhoda Weaver, Lyric Jones, and Wild Bodema.

Gathering at South Pack Square (at the Vance Monument, South Pack Square, Asheville, NC 28801).

11:30 am
March starts from South Pack Square to the MLK park (50 Martin Luther King Jr. Dr., Asheville, NC 28801) via College Street.

12:15 pm
Speeches start MLK Park.

1:30 pm
Speeches end and the event concludes.
