Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity Sponsors Guatemala Trip

Asheville Habitat is again following its tithe and heading to Guatemala, April 6-14, to build a house and install five smokeless stoves in partnership with Habitat for Humanity Guatemala.

There are currently four spaces available on this service trip for community members who would like the opportunity to help build houses and change lives with Habitat, experience another culture, meet like-minded people, and do work that warms your heart and fills your soul.

“When I participated in a Habitat Global Village Trip in Guatemala 6 years ago and worked alongside local volunteers, I felt incredibly lucky to be involved in an organization that is changing lives, in my own community and abroad. I soon thereafter got certified to become a Team Leader so I could help more volunteers gain an understanding of the impact Habitat has around the world,” said Joel Johnson. This trip will be Joel’s fourth time taking a volunteer team to Guatemala.

The trip cost of $1,785 covers a significant donation to Habitat for Humanity, as well as accommodations, meals, in-country transportation, travel-medical insurance, and cultural activities. Airfare and entry/exit fees are not included. The full program cost is tax-deductible, in most cases.
