A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation has begun a bridge replacement project on Church Road over Garren Creek in Fairview.
R.E. Burns & Sons Co. of Statesville will replace the 46-year-old bridge with a 27-foot wide bridge. Crews have established a marked detour that directs drivers on a 2.7-mile route using Village Road, Garren Creek Road, Whitaker Road, and Blue Ridge Development Road.
This bridge is one of four that will be replaced as part of a $3 million contract that should conclude in early October.
