Light Up the Night 5K Takes Over Montford Tonight!

Asheville: It’s time to get your glow on! iDaph Events is proud to help support Western Carolina Rescue Ministries by presenting its first ever Light Up the Night 5K on Friday, August 9.

Light Up the Night 5K is a glow-in-the-dark nighttime run for all abilities that will wind through the historic streets of Montford in Asheville.

Runners will take to the streets starting at 7:30 pm in “glow swag” in this fun and unique event, and all the proceeds from this run will directly benefit the continuous work of recovery, rescue and restoration to individuals throughout WCRM.

“I would love to see community members become aware of the significant impact we are having on hundreds of thousands of lives within our area,” says Jessica May, Director of Development at WCRM. “We are helping them in various ways such as providing warm meals, safe shelter, public showers, free primary medical care, clothing, food boxes, and free year-long residential recovery programs for both men and women with young children. The funds raised at this event will help us to continue to provide the love these individuals need as they pick up the pieces and move forward in a healthy, positive way.”

The Run is a scenic, night-time fun 5K run through the Historic Montford area in Asheville, North Carolina. The run will follow along Montford Avenue and Hill Street through beautiful Victorian neighborhoods that mirror Asheville’s cosmopolitan character. Registration is $35. Registration prices will increase after July 15. Participants will receive a free ‘glow’ t-shirt if they register by July 28.

The run will support Western Carolina Rescue Ministries (WCRM), which exists to serve the homeless, poor, and addicted populations of Western North Carolina. They meet people in crisis, focus on helping them at the point of their need, invest in their future, and help them until they can move forward. Awards: Awards will be given to the top three finishers male/female overall, top one overall master’s (male/female) and top three (male/female) in various age graded categories.
