Part of Kenilworth Road to Close for Construction

Pending weather, the City of Asheville Stormwater Division will close Kenilworth Road from Rosefield Drive to thirty feet north of Rosefield Drive beginning this week.

The work will entail installation of a large pipe replacement in this area. Residents can expect a hard closure with no access to the portion of the road during the entire duration of the project. No thru traffic or pedestrians will be allowed, and crews will place signs for a detour route along the impacted roads. Motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians are encouraged to reroute during this time.

This work is being done in advance of a road resurfacing project, also scheduled to last up to five weeks.  The city hopes that by doing this work in advance, it will minimize the impacts on residents.

ART service affected

This project will affect ART bus service to the Kenilworth community. Due to this work and lane closures on Kenilworth Road, Route S2 will not run beginning July 6 for approximately three weeks. Riders along Kenilworth Road can access bus service on Biltmore Avenue (on Routes S1 and S5) or Tunnel Road (on Routes WE1 and WE2). Stay up to date on any ART service changes by checking the Service Alerts page for service outages or route change that may affect your travel plans. To get notices via text or email about changes, sign up for iRide email alerts, or text “NextART” followed by the bus stop ID to 41411.
