The Asheville Area Arts Council announces the Creative Sector Series which includes five events running from September 2022 to February 2023 centered on local arts impacts and challenges.
The Creative Sector Series opens with three Arts AVL Town Hall Candidate Forums on September 7, September 28, and October 12. Each event will begin with a 45-minute mix-and-mingle in the lobby and courtyard of the Wortham Center, followed by a moderated Q&A with State, County, and City candidates in the Tina McGuire Theatre. These forums are free and open to the public, but registration is required.
The series continues with the State of the Arts Brunch on November 2 at The Orange Peel. At this sit down brunch, arts advocates will learn about the state of the creative sector in Buncombe County, and hear from City and County leaders about local arts support. The John Cram Arts Leadership Award (“The Crammy”)– named after local entrepreneur and philanthropist John Cram– will also be presented at this event to an individual who has made a large contribution to the arts locally. Tickets to the State of the Arts Brunch are $45 and go on sale later this month.
The Creative Sector Series concludes with the Arts AVL Town Hall Meet & Greet in February 2023 at the Asheville Art Museum. The arts community will gather once more to become better acquainted with the newly appointed State, County, and City officials. The Asheville Area Arts Council will also share the 2022-2023 arts policy agenda. This event is free and open to the public. Registration will open closer to the event.
