The James Vester Miller Historic Walking Trail Open for 2023

Warning: Information you find on this page may be outdated or incorrect.

The James Vester Miller Historic Walking Trail was recently awarded a 2023 Buncombe County Tipping Point Grant. This allows the community of all ages to experience the insides of four beautiful historic Black churches on the trail and learn their history.

The James Vester Miller traveling mural, created by local artisan Jenny Pickens by way of an ArtsAVL grant, will be on display at one of the churches throughout the exhibit.  Bring family and friends and stop by churches to see the beautiful craftsmanship inside and out.

The churches will be open for viewing from 12 pm to 4 pm on Saturday, September 30, 2023, and October 14, 2023. November & December dates TBD. Admission is free!
