Appalachian Bicycle Institute (ABI) opens to provide training
on a variety of topics that include bicycle repair, wheel
building, and tour preparation. Founded by Jenny Kallista, the
Institute was born from the love of bicycles and the love of
teaching maintenance classes with 10 years of experience as
a professional bicycle mechanic and 6 years experience
teaching maintenance classes.Fall classes begin Sept 25, and the classes are open to anyone desiring to learn more about bicycles. Classes currently scheduled are:
September 25-26: Essential Overhaul:
October 9-10: Wheel Building :
October 16: Tour Preparation : Appalachian Bicycle Institute is located 15 minutes from downtown Asheville, NC in the Leicester area. Most classes are offered on the weekend to ?t into people's busy lifestyles and budgets. ABI is designed to demystify bicycle mechanics so the individual will feel con?dent, competent, and happy with their bicycle.
