4th Annual Western NC Run/Walk for Autism Needs Your Support, Asheville.com a Proud Sponsor

Come enjoy the opportunity to run a 5K or walk to support services for individuals on the autism spectrum in western NC and all across our state. The 4th annual WNC Run/Walk for Autism will be held at 9:00 AM, September 19th at Carrier Park in Asheville.

Asheville.com is proud to be a sponsor of this event for the third year in a row, and is delighted to be fielding a team - Visit www.wncrunwalkforautism.com to join Team Asheville.com, or to register your own team or as an individual. Can't make it to the walk? Sign up to volunteer! If you want to run or walk with frieds you still have time to get your team together but don't delay!

You can also register at Diamond Brand Outdoors if you prefer! The first 300 people who register for the event at the Diamond Brand Outdoors store in Arden, located at 2623 Hendersonville Road will receive a $10 gift card.

You can also support the event by spreading the word! Each day two North Carolina families have a child diagnosed with a form of autism. That's nearly 800 families added each year to the 50,000 families in our state already living with autism.

Individuals on the autism spectrum and their families need help and support to be able to be as successful and independent as possible.

Proceeds from the WNC Run/Walk for Autism are used to support the programs and services of the Autism Society of North Carolina, including many here in Western North Carolina, such as two residential programs, a small business that provides an opportunity for employment to individuals with autism spectrum disorder, summer camp, and the Sara Handlan Family Crisis Fund which was established to provide financial assistance to families living with autism and in crisis.

The WNC Run/Walk for Autism has raised over $70,000 over the past 3 years to provide supports and promote opportunities for the autism community in Western North Carolina.
