Brevard College�s J.A. Jones Library is spotlighting western North Carolina�s long history as a tourist destination now through August 19.
Books highlighting travel and tourism in the area include Stephen Compton�s �Early Tourism in Western North Carolina;� Stephen E. Massengill�s �Western North Carolina: a Visual Journey;� Robert Beverly�s �The Western North Carolina Almanac;� James Bannon�s �North Carolina: A Guide to Backcountry Travel and Adventure;� Lynda McDaniel�s �Highroad Guide to the North Carolina Mountains;� Carolyn Sakowski�s �Touring the Western North Carolina Backroads;� C. Franklin Goldsmith�s �Best Hikes of Pisgah National Forest;� Leonard M. Adkins� �Walking the Blue Ridge;� Bob Benner�s �Carolina Whitewater;� and Peggy Hansen�s �Touring Transylvania.� Books on backpacking, biking, climbing, hiking, state parks, wildlife, wildflowers, Cherokee Indians and the Great Smoky Mountains, as well as free seasonal publications, Summertime in Transylvania County, and Fun Things to Do in the Mountains are also available.
