The Buncombe County Solid Waste Department and the City of Asheville Sanitation Department have co-sponsored a recycling drop-off center behind Earth Fare in the Westgate shopping center for ten years. The recycling center offered residents a central location within the city to drop off recyclables.The property owners of Westgate, the FIRC Group Inc., have allowed use of their property for this recycling center free of charge for the past 10 years. The City and County extend their gratitude for allowing the community to enjoy this convenient location for recycling. The drop-off recycling site in Westgate Shopping Center will close December 31 when the contract ends. The property owner has plans for the part of the property where the drop-off center is currently located. The County is prepared to offer alternative options to residents for the management of their recyclables. Alternative locations where residents will be encouraged to drop off their recyclables include:
* Recycling center in front of Curbside Management�s processing facility (116 North Woodfin Ave.) The community has enjoyed the drop-off recycling center location behind Earth Fare for many years, and the City and County sincerely apologize for any inconvenience to residents and encourage them to use the recycling centers listed above or take advantage of the recycling service provided by their garbage hauler.
