Brewgrass Festival Celebrates 11 Years September 22, Asheville.com a Proud Sponsor

The pieces are in place for the 11th Anniversary of Brewgrass. This year's event will be held at Martin Luther King Jr. ballfield in Asheville, September 22rd, Noon-7:00pm.

The Brewgrass Festival, hosted by the Great Smokies Craft Brewers Association to benefit Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Western North Carolina, has become one of the most popular beer and bluegrass events in the Southeast, and with good reason. The festival features over 40 American breweries and showcases more than 150 different beers. Add to that a great music lineup of national and regional bluegrass musicians with a more progressive bluegrass sound, such as the Lonesome River Band, Valerie Smith and Liberty Pike, Open Road, and Hot Buttered Rum String Band, and it quickly becomes clear why the event has such a strong and loyal turnout.

The bands are booked and the Brewers are ready for this year's event. 46 breweries will be featured this year, including several newcomers. The winner of last year's People's Choice Award will be announced, and attendees will once again be able to vote for their favorite. The 2007 musical line-up is one of the best in festival history. John Cowan performs one of his only outdoor shows this year at Brewgrass. Brewgrass alumni the Greasy Beans are slated to return, and Robinella and the CC String Band are also back after once being "showcased" at Brewgrass. Festival-goers can expect to hear the Gibson Brothers, recently featured on XM's Bluegrass show, and Brewgrass is pleased to introduce Whitewater Bluegrass, one of Asheville's most popular bluegrass bands.
