Butterfly Exhibit Opens at WNC Nature Center July 1

Discover the secret lives of butterflies during the Beauty of the Butterflies exhibit at the WNC Nature Center July 1 through September 4. Visitors will get up close and personal with hundreds of butterflies native to the Southern Appalachian Mountains as they make their way through the butterfly house. New to the exhibit this year is a variety of large, showy moths that make the mountains their home.

The exhibit opens with Nectar Collector Day on July 1 where visitors of all ages will get the ultimate butterfly experience with food, butterfly games and displays, and lots of special children activities. A butterfly specialist will be on hand to share tips on attracting butterflies to your garden and much more.

The Nature Center is the founding member of the Butterfly Conservation Initiative, a coalition of the American Zoo and Aquarium Association and their accredited zoos and aquariums, non-governmental organizations and government agencies. The collaborative effort focuses on recovery, research and education of North American butterflies.

The Beauty of the Butterflies exhibit will be open daily, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Admission is $7 for adults, $6 for seniors and $3 for children. For information, contact the Nature Center at 828-298-5600 or www.wildwnc.org.
