In its search for opportunities to partner and build relationships with other organizations that share similar goals, values, and a deep commitment toward community health and wellness, Diamond Brand Outdoors is proud to announce its Gold Level partnership with The YMCA of Western North Carolina. According to YMCA campaign officials, "Partners are companies and individuals who have contributed $5000 or more to the YMCA and serve as "Partners" in building strong kids, strong families, and strong communities through a long-lasting relationship."
"Children and families in our community need and deserve the family-oriented programs and services the YMCA can provide," said Campaign Chair Richard Hurley. "Few things are more important than a healthy lifestyle, strong community, positive role models and quality time spent together as a family." "Diamond Brand Outdoors looks for opportunities to build relationships with local and regional organizations that share our goals, allowing organizations to combine resources and provide a greater benefit to our community," said Will Gay, Diamond Brand Owner and President. The Diamond Brand / YMCA partnership is a natural fit since Diamond Brand goes out of its way to support programs that benefit area youth, especially those programs that foster youth outdoor participation. "We are extremely excited about having the privilege to work with the YMCA," added John Delaloye, Diamond Brand's Owner and Chief Financial Officer. "It's an organization that has such a rich history and has done so much to benefit our local community." In addition to providing much needed funds to support the efforts of the YMCA, Diamond Brand will also provide camping equipment and outdoor gear for the YMCA's 2008 Youth Adventure Camp, YMCA after-school educational programs, and an upcoming YMCA, GPS Sports program. This new equipment from Diamond Brand will allow the YMCA to provide overnight camping experiences for twice as many campers in 2008, as compared to 2007. The new partnership between Diamond Brand and the YMCA will kick off at the YMCA's Strong Kids Campaign. Proceeds from the Strong Kids Campaign will fund scholarships and financial assistance that allow children and families, who otherwise may not be able to participate, to benefit from family strengthening YMCA programs such as child care, day camp and programs for at-risk youth. The Kick Off Event, held at the Reuter YMCA on February 11th from 5:30-7:30pm, is free and open to the community and will feature a Diamond Brand activity space with tents and disc golf, among other fun offerings like dancing, face painting, a giant inflatable obstacle course, a climbing wall, basketball shoot, a YMCA Prize Walk, door prizes, kid's mural painting, food and more. The YMCA provides a special opportunity for kids to join life-changing and life-saving programs such as day camp, child care, youth sports, water safety, after school care, and summer camp. Diamond Brand, established in 1881, became a member of the Western North Carolina community in 1943 as a manufacturer of outdoor products and now has several retail locations including Arden and Asheville, as well as the Frugal Backpacker outdoor outlet and a retail store in Green River Adventures in Saluda.
