This year's Folkmoot Festival USA is off to a great start, and will continue through July 31, During its 22-year history, over 200 folk groups from more than 100 countries have shared their heritage and culture at Folkmoot USA.
UNC Asheville hosted the Asheville tour stop of the 22nd annual Folkmoot USA festival on Saturday, July 23, and Sunday, July 24. The performances took place in UNC Asheville�s Lipinsky Auditorium.
Voted as a �Top 20 Event� by the Southeast Tourism Society, Folkmoot USA features folk dance, music and culture from around the world. Patterned after traditional European festivals, dancers and musicians from across the globe will share their cultural heritage through colorful native costumes and unique musical instruments. Depending on travel and visa situations, artists from Cyprus, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Indonesia, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Spain, Togo and Turkey will perform.
Held each summer across the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina, Folkmoot features performances, parades and workshops by more than 350 performers from a dozen or so countries.

International Festival Day is held on Main Street in Waynesville. Main Street takes on the feel of an old-fashioned world bazaar as local and regional artisans, crafters and food vendors join the international groups with items to sell. Co-sponsored by Haywood County Arts Council. Intermingle with folk groups and see presentations at either end of Main Street, as well as on the center stage.

Groups listed for performance venues are subject to change. Tickets to programs featuring ALL of the international groups are $25 or $20 reserved and $15 general admission, except at Blue Ridge Community College where all seats are $20. Other programs (which do not include all of the performing groups) are $10 adult, children 12 and under half price. Some events are free as noted.
For the UNC-Asheville performances, reserved tickets are $20, general admission tickets are $15 and tickets for children ages 12 and younger are half-price. Because of the intimate size of Lipinsky Auditorium, advance ticket purchase is advised.
