The Grove Park Inn Resort and Spa's Horizons Restaurant Honored With Four Diamond Ratings


Horizons Restaurant at The Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa has received its eleventh consecutive American Automobile Association Four Diamond Award for 2004�one of only two restaurants in Western North Carolina so honored. Only 10 restaurants in the entire state of North Carolina received this prestigious designation. The Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa also claimed its the third consecutive AAA Four-Diamond Award for lodging quality and it is the twelfth time the resort has been so honored.

AAA Four-Diamond establishments are upscale in all areas. The fundamental hallmarks at this level include an extensive array of amenities combined with a high degree of hospitality, service, and attention to detail. Lodging ratings include eight different classifications, such as bed and breakfast, hotel, cottage and country inn with four sub classifications such as historic, classic and suite. Restaurants have varying cuisines and ambiances.

The Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa President & CEO, Craig Madison, accepted the award and thanked the AAA for placing the Inn in such exclusive company. �We are honored to receive the Four Diamond Award, and grateful that the efforts of our staff have been recognized in this fashion,� said Madison. �We are also pleased to be able to offer our guests both Four Diamond accommodations and Horizons, a Four Diamond restaurant.�

The Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa has totally refurbished all 510 guests rooms over the last two years and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Grove Park Inn was built in 1913 overlooking Asheville's skyline and the Blue Ridge mountains. Architecturally unique, the historic Main Inn is constructed of native granite boulders quarried from nearby mountainsides. On the National Register of Historic Places and a member of Historic Hotels of America, the Inn houses the world's largest collection of Arts & Crafts antiques under its red-tiled roof.

Amenities at the 510-room resort include a world-class, 40,000 square foot spa, private Club Floor, century-old, Donald Ross-designed golf course, tennis, swimming, Sports Complex, shops, fine dining and children's programs.
