LAAFF is in its 7th year of filling up Lexington Ave in downtown Asheville for one fabulously freaky day of all local, all original entertainment, arts, and food showcasing the diverse and amazing talents of WNC artists.Asheville�s only all-local festival is back for another year on Sunday, September 7, to showcase the artsy culture of WNC. The 7th Annual Lexington Avenue Arts and Fun Festival is an all-local, all-original, FREE street fair where the creative can strut their stuff and anyone can get inspired and join the fun. The festival will take place on Lexington Avenue between College St. and I-240 in downtown Asheville. Arts 2 People, a local non-profit organization, is excited to bring you yet another FREE, fun-filled day on Lexington Ave. in Downtown Asheville, NC at our 6th annual Lexington Ave. Arts and Fun Festival. LAAFF will take place on Sunday, September 7th, from 11am � 10pm on N. Lexington Ave between College Street and the I 240 overpass. This is the site of the Asheville Mural Projects latest mural! This fantastically fabulous, freaky jam-packed day will showcase the many diverse talents that Asheville has to offer. If there is any day to wake up and throw on your feather boa and checkered shoes and head on into town, this would be the day! There are multiple performance areas featuring belly dancing, fire dancing, break dancing, flamenco, salsa, reggae, bluegrass, rock, funk, afrobeat, jazz, trance, punk, opera, blues and more... and the beat goes on... Street performances and interactive art areas are scattered up and down the street in between art and craft venders, local breweries, local foods, the underground art show, stuff for kids, bicycle jousting, puppetry, arts cars, dancing and LAAFFing and More! Fun for the whole family; there will be interactive arts areas with many types of projects including art car painting, puppet making, face painting, and other crafts. You might even learn how to juggle or hula hoop! Some of the days performances include CX1, the Big Money Band, the Trainwrecks, Chalwa, Bandazian, Unifire, Kellin Watson, the Plowshares, Speedsquare, Baraka Mundi, Asheville Blugrass Allstars with Don Lewis, the Rebelles, Tribalesque, Wicked Geisha, Hip Hop Revolution, Avec la Force Percussion Ensmble, modern dance, DJs and comedy. LAAFF is a fund-raiser for local non-profit Arts 2 People and its projects: the Asheville Mural Project (AMP) and REACH programming. Your contribution of joining us and experiencing a fun day of creative expression will support Arts2 People's mission to bring the transformative powers of art to those in need, sustaining a colorful creative culture in Asheville and supporting opportunities for emerging artists to grow viable careers.
