Local Author Michael P. Gibson Publishes Children's Book!

Michael P. Gibson, couldn't have imagined 5 years ago when he and his wife Tesha adopted their Maltese puppy Lulie Anna he would now be writing children's books. Michael, a Greenville native, manages an upstate Cardiac Rehabilitation Program but his life's passion is writing. He enjoys writing poetry, Christian devotions and humorous short stories.

He recently wrote and published a rhyming picture book for early readers titled, "Lulie Loves Lima Beans". Lulie is a lovable Maltese with a spunky personality. One night during dinner, Lulie discovered a Lima Bean on the floor, and gobbled it up."Lulie Loves Lima Beans" evolved out of her insatiable appetite for Lima Beans, and brings together puppy and produce like no other work of literature. It is a light hearted picture book with bright, colorful illustrations, and actual photographs of the real Lulie. It is sure to entertain the young, and young at heart. While memorizing the rhyming poem, children will also have the opportunity to learn about the various fruits and vegetables featured in this delightful tale.

Self-publishing was a new concept to Michael but he credits networking with other local authors such as Jill and Michael Cogdill (Cracker the Crab) and Cheryl Cannon (Gomer the Goo Man) with pointing him in the right direction while sharing their personal experiences. He also credits the success of the book to his illustrator Cynthia Nedved, also a Greenville resident. "She is an amazing artist. No one could have captured Lulie's personality the way Cindy did," said Gibson.

Michael is currently working on another children's book and has plans to publish a book of poetry in 2010.
