Vertique, a manufacturer of automated case picking systems, located in Arden, North Carolina, has announced a $15 million expansion at their present manufacturing location.The company will make a $15 million investment in construction and equipment, which includes adding 70,000 sq. ft. to the 50,000 sq. ft. facility located in Vista Industrial Park. This industrial park is located at the intersections of Brevard Road and Long Shoals Road. By the time the expansion process is complete, Vertique will employ an additional 100 people, bringing the total employment at the firm to over 150 local employees. The company evaluated many different sites before deciding to stay at its present location. Among the factors involved in Asheville�s selection included the proximity to the company�s customer base, availability of a quality workforce, and the proactive approach taken by economic development officials. The Vertique system is considered to be one of the most productive, complete and dependable case picking systems now available in the industry. The new system, resembling a giant computer controlled vending machine, simultaneously replenishes, stores and picks orders using highly profitable advantages. The Vertique system is a bank of vertical accumulating towers which can be built to store up to a full pallet of material of product, eliminating the replenishment problem. The company provides a turn key material handling systems for the manufacturing and distribution industry specializing in warehouse distribution equipment for the beverage and food industry. Vertique focuses on providing their clients with complete product services, specially designed to meet their needs. All specialty design and manufacturing is done in-house at the Arden, North Carolina facility. The Economic Development Coalition for Asheville-Buncombe County is a public/private partnership between the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce, Buncombe County and the City of Asheville and has been involved in creating nearly 5,400 jobs for the region.
