YWCA Summer Camps Begin June 15


YWCA Summer Camps begin on June 15. Three camps will be offered:
  • YWCA Summer Camp for Grades K-6
    YWCA Summer Camp for children in grades K-6 emphasizes cultural awareness and enrichment. Camp is held at the YWCA of Asheville, 185 S. French Broad Avenue. Cost is $135/week for YWCA members and $145/week for non-members. The hours are 7:30 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday, June 15 until August 21. Breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack are provided. Campers will enjoy weekly field trips, gardening, sports, nature hikes, swimming lessons, music, art, service learning and more. You sign up week by week or for the entire summer. Applications are available at the YWCA or at www.ywcaofasheville.org. A $20 per week deposit required to reserve the child�s spot for the weeks attending, and there is a $40 individual or $55 family registration fee.   • YWCA SPIRIT Camp for 12-16 Year Olds
    The YWCA�s SPIRIT Camp is a unique summer program, designed to meet the needs of teenagers who think they are �too cool� for camp! Teens have unique needs, and the YWCA staff knows how to keep them having fun while learning at the same time. SPIRIT Camp will begin June 15 and run through the last week of July. The hours are 7:30 am to 5:45 pm Monday through Friday. SPIRIT offers daily, full-day field trips, including wilderness adventure, outdoor service-learning projects, swimming, skating, tubing, trips to water parks, museums, aquariums, and more. The cost is $120 week (call to ask about flexibility). Sign up week by week or for the entire summer. There is a limit of 26 campers per week, and sign-ups are on a first come first serve basis.   • YWCA FutureVision for 9th, 10th, and 11th Graders
    The YWCA�s FutureVision camp for students enrolling into 9th, 10th, or 11th grade offers a unique three day a week camp organized around a variety of engaging themes. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8am � 6pm students will participate in hands-on career exploration, wilderness adventure, swimming, outdoor service-learning projects, and a variety of exciting field trips. FutureVision Camp 2009 will begin June 15th and will run until the last week of July. The camp is free of cost. There is a limit of 24 campers; sign-ups are on a first come first served basis.
