The Weather Channel Features Work of UNC Asheville Atmospheric Sciences

The online Cyclone Center – a project spearheaded by UNC Asheville’s Chris Hennon – has already gotten the attention of the Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society.

And now, The Weather Channel online is introducing a larger non-academic audience to the work being done by Hennon, chair and associate professor of atmospheric sciences, and his colleagues at NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information and the Cooperative Institute for Climate and Satellites-North Carolina.

The Cyclone Center is using crowdsourcing – enlisting thousands of citizen-scientists to improve the historical record of tropical cyclones. Anyone can help with this by using the easy online tools.
