Black Mountain Montessori

Black Mountain Montessori School is a diverse educational community that is built on the principles of intrinsic motivation, self-directed learning, and social responsibility. The school’s developmentally appropriate approach has been designed to fit each individual child, instead of making the child fit the program. It places an emphasis on community involvement through a partnership with local colleges, community gardens, and the arts.

Falling Creek Camp

Falling Creek is a traditional summer camp for boys, founded on Christian values. It is located on over 900 private mountaintop acres in western North Carolina, 20 minutes from Hendersonville. Sessions range from one to four weeks for rising 1st through 12th grade boys, with Father/Son Weekends. In addition to the classic camp activities, campers can choose a variety of out-of-camp adventure trips.

Camp Timberlake for Boys

Timberlake offers traditional camping with an outstanding Christian staff. riding, backpacking, tennis, climbing, wrestling, paintball, archery, waterskiing, riflery, mountain biking, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, guitar, soccer, volleyball, ropes course, fencing, rafting, and much more are available. Timberlake is the brother camp to Merri-Mac for Girls.

PARI Summer STEM and Space Exploration Camps

Mission Control: Exoplanet Exploration
This camp is designed for middle and high school aged campers.
Do you have what it takes to plan a mission to another planet? Gain confidence, learn space science, and strive to make it to a new world in this combination role-play—academic camp.  The wide variety of topics makes this camp a good fit for a range of interests.  You’ll tackle challenges in space craft and habitat design, astronaut health and well-being, and capturing public interest while swaying others to support your plan.

Above & Beyond
This camp is designed for high school aged campers.
Models the research process followed by professionals in space science!Our signature and most academically intensive camp explores the universe through astronomy, physics, and astrobiology.  Use real research-grade instruments and data to investigate objects like super-nova remnants and distant star clusters.  One small step as a space explorer, one giant step in launching your career in space.

Early Childhood Programs at the Asheville JCC

The Asheville JCC offers numerous opportunities for families with young children to participate in our community. Our outstanding Early Childhood Education programs, Hilde’s House Infant& Toddler Program, Shalom Children’s Center for Early Childhood and Shalom Children’s Center Pre-K, have received North Carolina’s highest rating of five stars, and include some of the most innovative programming available for young children in Western North Carolina. We also invite families with young children to participate in our weekly musical Shabbat and Havdalah celebrations.

Pre-College Programs at UNC Asheville

Each Pre-College program runs from Sunday to Friday, with topics spanning the arts and sciences. All students live on campus to fully experience university life and the surrounding community, and the program cost, which starts at $1,430, includes lodging, meals, course materials, activities and excursions.

Trail Ridge Mountain Camp

Known to some as the “world’s smallest camp.” Separate boys and girls travel camps offering programs from one to five weeks in length. Enrollment for each session is limited to 16 campers. This summer: Roan Mountain Base Camp; Pisgah Forest Base Camp; French Broad Canoe Adventure; and a four-day Appalachian Trail Backpacking and Rafting expedition. Asheville Creative Arts Theatre Camp

Asheville Creative Arts, known for producing innovative theatre for audiences of all ages, presents two half-day co-ed camps offering instruction in acting, creative drama, writing, improv, puppetry, prop and costume creation. (Sign up for one or both sessions: Heroes, Heroines & Tricksters, 9am-noon; Not Your Mama’s Drama Camp, 1-4pm) Held at Hanger Hall. Cost: $130 per half-day day session; early drop off ($10), late pick up ($10), and lunch bridge between camps ($10).

Rockbrook Camp

Rockbrook is a sleepaway summer camp for girls located in the “heart of a wooded mountain” in western North Carolina. Founded in 1921, our summer camp continues to provide an exciting and enriching, fun and formative, camp experience for girls and teens ages 6 – 16.

Camp Ruach at the Asheville Jewish Community Center

Find your friends here! Camp Ruach (that means “spirit”) welcomes all rising 1st-8th graders for a traditional day camp experience focused on building lifelong friendships and enjoying a summer full of fun. Each two-week session is built upon teaching important values through exciting activities, including sports, cooking, crafts, archery, nature expeditions, gardening, overnights, dance, music, swimming with WSI certified swim instructors, and much more.

WNC Nature Center

The Western North Carolina Nature Center is the first place where area children meet the animals they have read about. Deers, bears, cougars, wolf, racoons, birds and even farm animals are there for all to learn about. Exhibits on area poisonous snakes are worth absorbing. An aviary, self-guided nature trail and petting zoo make this a great place for the family. Small admission fee.

The Academy at Terpsicorps

The Academy at Terpsicorps is Asheville’s newest dance school and ballet conservatory. Providing the world class dance training consistent with the stylistic requirements of Terpsicorps Theatre of Dance, dancers young and old will be provided with a rich knowledge of classical technique and the ability to adapt to all styles and techniques.

Summer Learning and Enrichment With Eliada

Eliada’s 21st Century Community Learning Center runs each summer to complement our afterschool program. 21st Century Community Learning Center programs recognize that summer learning loss plagues many students, and Eliada’s year-round learning and enrichment program provides opportunities to practice literacy and STEM skills no matter the time of year!

Asheville Music School Summer Camps

Summer camps at Asheville Music School are a great way to being your musical journey, enhance your skills, or even try a new instrument. We have camps for ages 4-18, with offerings such as Rock Camp, Fiddle Camp, Ukulele Camp, Music Explorations, and even a Harry Potter themed strings camp. Campers will learn music in a fun, supportive, team-oriented environment in small or large groups.

JC Martial Arts

For more than 60 years Merri-Mac for has offered traditional camping with outstanding Christian staff. Asheville Community Movement’s Movers and Shakers Summer Camp

The Movers and Shakers Summer Camp promotes the same values that are the cornerstone of Asheville Community Movement: teaching kids to be independent and conscientious community members within a fun and safe environment. We try to nurture the individual passions of our campers by devoting each week to themes that foster community spirit and sustainable living.

Summer Sizzle at Black Mountain Center for the Arts

Each week offers campers a different theme such as Superheroes for the 3-5 year olds to Broadway Bound for the 6-9 year olds. Campers will work through the week to create an informal performance to be shared with family and friends on Friday. Complimentary camp photos that capture the week of learning and fun will also be provided. All four themed ½ day camps put an emphasis on creative movement and dance and music. 9am to 12pm M-F. $125 per week.
