WNC Nature Center Hosts “Critter Check Up” for Children

Show your favorite stuffed animal some love this Valentine’s Day by bringing it to the WNC Nature Center for a wellness exam on Saturday, February 13th.

“Critter Check Up,” organized by the Friends of the WNC Nature Center, is a new event that offers participants a look at how the Nature Center’s vet cares for the animals at the Nature Center. Visitors are invited to bring one stuffed animal in for a routine check up between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 13th (last entry at 2:45 p.m.).

The Nature Center’s veterinarians and other vets and volunteers will be on hand to give each stuffed animal a wellness exam. After the check up, the veterinarians will advise the animal’s owner of any diagnoses or recommendations.

For those who show up without a stuffed animal, plush animals will be available for purchase from the Friends vending machine or through the Friends adopt an animal program. Hot beverages and tasty refreshments will be available for purchase at Captain Dave’s Pirate Dawgs Coffee Cove.

Admission to “Critter Check Up” is included in general admission, which ranges from $5.95 to $10.95. Children 2 years old and younger get in free. Members of the Friends of the WNC Nature Center receive free admission to both the Nature Center and the event!

Critter Check Up visitors will have the opportunity to continue their support of the Nature Center by purchasing a Friends of the WNC Nature Center membership. Among other benefits, members receive unlimited visits (including to special events such as Critter Check Up) for one year.
