Halloween is enjoyed by children, the young at heart, and, this year, your canine friends as well. Brother Wolf Animal Rescue is holding their second annual Howl-O-Ween Walkathon on Saturday, October 29th at the Eliada Corn Maze from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
The Howl-O-Ween Wakathon will include games for kids and pets, food and drink vendors, music, a photobooth, facepainting and a red carpet costume contest! Kids can stop at trick-or-treating stations to get their fill of candy through the two mile corn maze loop.
“The Howl-O-Ween Walkathon is about bringing Asheville animal lovers together to celebrate in the fun spirit of Halloween while also raising funds for animals who desperately need our help,” remarked Denise Bitz, Founder and President of Brother Wolf Animal Rescue. “This year Brother Wolf is on target to help over 6,000 animals via our adoption, foster, trap-neuter-return, and transport programs. And we will have helped thousands more via our pet food pantry, our “Help Me Heal” and “Help Me Learn” funds, and our spay/neuter assistance. The funds raised at this event will help us continue this critical work in our community.”
“It’s one of my favorite events that we put on because we get to see hundreds of happy dogs surrounded by families who adore them and there are smiles on everyone’s faces,” said Leah Craig Fieser, Brother Wolf’s Event Director. “It’s the perfect representation of the joyful outcomes that Brother Wolf makes possible for animals.”
Walkathon participants are encouraged to raise money for Brother Wolf through personalized webpages. Walkers can sign up as individuals or as a team. A grand prize is awarded to the team who raises the most money for the animals.
Howl-O-Ween Walkathon registration is currently open at bwar.org. The cost is $25 for adults and $15 for children, event Tshirt included. Day of registration will be available but participants are encouraged to register in advance. Festivities will be open from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm with the walk taking place at 1:30 pm. 700 participants are expected. Visit bwar.org for more event information.
