2017 Asheville Wine & Food Festival is This Weekend

The Asheville Wine & Food Festival celebrates all that’s worth savoring in the mountains. This year’s festival offers several signature events full of culinary panache in downtown Asheville.

With nationwide recognition for being one of the top culinary and wine destinations, this eclectic mountain city once again brings you the Asheville Wine and Food Festival. Join us for this exciting two-day event on August 18th and 19th in the heart of downtown at Pack Square Park to celebrate the chefs, restaurants, vineyards, distilleries, breweries, and farmers who have elevated Asheville’s status to a “Foodtopian Society”.

By now you’ve noticed that this festival has grown in leaps and bounds. To summarize, days added to the Asheville Wine and Food Festival in years past have evolved into its own Cocktail Week earlier in the year. In serving loyal attendees with ‘just desserts’ first, SWEET has broadened this year to become SWEET & SAVORY, a lively expansion of the palate in conclusion of the festival. Enjoy sweet desserts, savory restaurant dishes, and great wines for pairing late Saturday afternoon at the Renaissance Ballrooms and Atrium.

In 2017, the Grand Tasting events have expanded to two full days where guests may find a treasure of independent, farm-to-table restaurants and a colorful street performer on every corner as the festival returns outdoors. Celebrity Barbecue Pitmaster Christopher Prieto will kick off the festival with the ‘soul’ of barbecue as he shares the art and science of slow-smoked meats. In lieu of a chef’s challenge, local award winning chefs will showcase their best dishes throughout the Grand Tasting as the Chef Highlight Series continues.

Presenting chefs at this year’s festival include Chef George Delidimos of Golden Fleece, Chef Don Paleno of The Colorful Palate, Chef TJ Centanni of Calypso St. Lucian Caribbean Cuisine & Rum Bar, Chef Anthony Cerrato of Strada Italiano, Chef Kyle Allen of Mountain Madre Mexican Kitchen & Agave Bar, Chef Scott Ostrander of Red Stag Grill, Chef Matthew Miner of Jargon, and Chef Duane Fernandes of Isa’s Bistro AND Hemingway’s Cuba.
