The Junior League of Asheville’s Fourth Annual Poinsettia Sale

The Junior League of Asheville announces the start of its fourth annual Poinsettia Sale to benefit the League’s mission of promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving our community.

For over ninety years, members of the Junior League of Asheville have worked to improve our community and ensure that women and children have the opportunities and services essential for their physical, intellectual, emotional, mental, social, and economic well-being and will advocate to see that such opportunities and services are available in our community. Through service, League members develop valuable skills and learn how to take effective action that promotes lasting change. During and after their time in the League, members of our organization become public and private sector leaders, who have a deep understanding of our community’s needs.

The Junior League of Asheville’s fourth annual Poinsettia Sale is an important source of revenue for the League. The League is fortunate to have Dixie Green as our poinsettia supplier. Dixie Green’s richly hued and full poinsettias are displayed at Disney World and the Opryland Hotel during the holiday season. Additionally, the League is grateful for the support of Togar Rugs, which provides a climate controlled space free of charge, to ensure the success of this fundraiser.

The League will sell red, white, and pink poinsettias in two sizes: 6” for $10.00 and 10” for $20.00. (These measurements refer to the diameter of the bottom of the poinsettia pot.) Poinsettias may be ordered through the Junior League of Asheville’s website, any provisional or active League member, or the Junior League of Asheville’s office. The League offers a 10% discount on any order over $500.00. Orders are due on November 10, 2017, and poinsettias will be available for pick-up from Togar Rugs on November 20, 2017.

In 2016, the third year of the JLA Poinsettia Sale, over $10,000.00 was raised from this single fundraiser. Emma Hodson, the 2017-2018 Vice President of Fund Development, had this to say about the fundraiser, “We are grateful to all of the local businesses, community organizations, and individuals who make this fundraiser a huge success. We hope to have your continued support, and we embrace the challenge of expanding this fundraiser.”
