Pollination Celebration Draws Attention to Bees, Birds, and Butterflies

Gardens in Montford recently offered nourishment to a myriad of pollinators and cooling shade to the visitors on the GreenWorks’ Garden Tour — the kick-off to Pollination Celebration Week in Asheville.

Seven private gardens and the pollinator garden and bee hotel located at UNC Asheville showcased pollinator-friendly gardens that are both beautiful and functional.

Dozens of events took place in Asheville and Hendersonville during Pollination Celebration Week to raise awareness about the importance of pollinators to the environment and our food system.

As the home of Bee City USA-Asheville, GreenWorks is proud to present Pollination Celebration events each June and support pollinator education and gardens all year-round.

The Bee City USA program endorses a set of commitments, defined in a resolution, for creating sustainable habitats for pollinators, which are vital to feeding the planet. The program fosters ongoing dialogue in urban areas to raise awareness of the role pollinators play in our communities and what each of us can do to provide them with healthy habitat. Incorporated cities, towns, counties and communities across America are invited to make these commitments and become certified as a Bee City USA affiliate.
