Attic Salt Theatre Company Holds Joint Fundraiser With Big Brothers Big Sisters of Buncombe County

Attic Salt Theatre Company is pleased to once again team up with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Buncombe County to host their popular joint fundraiser, Big Stories From the Attic.

The annual event will be at Attic Salt Theatre Arts Space, 2002 Riverside Dr., in Woodfin, on Friday, November 2, beginning at 6:30 pm. Tickets are only $50 and are limited, so buying in advance is recommended. Tickets can be purchased through Attic Salt’s website.

The event’s headliners are Kathy Gordon, Chuck Fink, and Becky Stone, three professional storytellers from right here in Buncombe County. Tapas and desserts will be provided by the culinary experts at Verbena Cakes, and there will be plenty of beer and wine with which to wash it down. In addition, there will be a silent auction, featuring goods and services from many Asheville businesses, including a private Biltmore Estate tour with a docent, Air B’n’B stays, locally-made artworks, Beer and restaurant packages, and much, much more!

Last year’s event was a great hit and helped raise thousands of dollars to provide under-served local youth with much-needed mentoring opportunities. Attic Salt Theatre Company was able to create classes in the performing arts for children as young as four and as old as eighteen. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Buncombe County matches children with one-on-one mentors, as they have been doing for over 35 years.

For the main event of the evening, the three storytellers will be sharing tales that revolve around “Growing Up and Moving Forward.” Kathy Gordon was an Asheville City Schools teacher for 30 years, and now tells folktales and stories all over Western North Carolina, about growing up in the mountains. Chuck Fink is a former corporate trainer who now teaches storytelling at OLLI at UNCA and weaves his “mostly true” tales all over the country. Becky Stone is a talented dancer, singer, actress and musician who directs the much-lauded “Stories from Asheville’s Front Porch.” Their stories should prove touching and thought-provoking, and are not to be missed!

Tickets for Big Stories from the Attic are available now through the online box office.
