* * * April Meeting: Stand Against Racism * * *

This year Indivisible AVL is participating in the YWCA’s national STAND AGAINST RACISM campaign, and our April meeting is devoted to building awareness and action around this year’s theme, “No Hate, No Fear.” We’ll welcome guests from law enforcement and local agencies, as we look at issues of immigrant justice in our community and in our lives. Aaron Sarver, Public Information Officer with the Buncombe County Sherrif’s Department, will answer questions about ICE detainers and chat with us about the role of law enforcement in our local immigrant community.

Everyone’s welcome. Join us!

We encourage everyone to take a look at “Racism 101” ahead of time, if you can, online at: bit.ly/racism101

Note: INDIVISIBLE HAPPY HOUR has moved to the same day as GENERAL MEETINGS, so we can do more in once-a-month gatherings and get back to work organizing and mobilizing in WNC! Happy Hour letter-writing drop-in is from 5:30 to 6:00, and the General Meeting is from 6:00 to 7:00. Feel free to come for some or all! This month’s letter-writing targets State Legislators about Medicaid Expansion and the ERA. We’ll also have pre-addressed labels for reps in DC as well as Raleigh, so you can write to your MOCs about anything you want.

Monthly meetings are held on the 4th Tuesday of every month and are open to the public.
