ABCCM Meals for Homeless Program Moves to New Location

After many years of service on 24 Cumberland Ave., ABCCM Crisis Ministry is renaming its Daily Meal initiative to ABCCM’s Daily Bread @ Sonrise, and relocating to 1543 Patton Ave.

Up to 140 meals for the homeless will be served in the form of a to-go style lunch with a hot soup, sandwich and dessert.

The serving hours at the new location are Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This is made possible by volunteers from these churches: Asheville First Baptist, Asheville First Church of the Nazarene, Asheville Mennonite, Basilica of St. Lawrence, Bell UMC, Biltmore Church, Central UMC, Covenant Community UMC, King of Glory, Missio Dei, St. Barnabas Catholic, St. Eugene Catholic, St. Mark’s Lutheran, St. Matthews Anglican, Trinity Baptist.

Since 1969 ABCCM has been committed to providing food, shelter and emergency assistance to those in need for our ever growing community. The new location at 1543 Patton Ave. will extend ABCCM services to the West Asheville area where hot meals will be provided during the week as well as other ABCCM services and resources to those in need.

“We are thankful for the partnership with Mt. Pisgah Seventh Day Adventist Church for sharing the location so together we may positively impact our community with a place for people to come as we serve one another in the name of Christ,” said the Rev. Scott Rogers, ABCCM executive director.

ABCCM is seeking additional volunteer support in this new venture. If interested, you may visit www.abccm.org/serve to register.
