Buncombe County has received reports that some residents have been receiving calls with an 828-250 prefix regarding Medicaid Part A & B.
These calls are not from Buncombe County Health & Human Services.
Potential scammers may sometimes spoof numbers to make it appear a phone call is coming from a government agency. Medicaid and Buncombe County will not call or email individuals to ask for personal information.
Protect Yourself
Be cautious about providing personal information over the phone or online. Never share your social security number, Medicaid ID, bank information, or any other personally identifiable information without verifying that the request is legitimate.
