Started in 2010, the Asheville-Buncombe Adult Soccer Association’s (ABASA) all-volunteer board decided to transform the now defunct Blue Ridge Cup into the Beer City Cup after Asheville’s 2nd crown as “Beer City, USA.” Spearheaded by ABASA board members Eric Usher and David Turner, the tournament successfully weds Asheville’s thriving adult soccer scene with the city’s world famous craft beer culture.
