From washing dishes and helping with community outreach, to providing comfort for an animal in need, Asheville Humane Society’s lifesaving Volunteer and Foster Programs offer a wide variety of opportunities for animal lovers to use their unique talents and skills to help the animals of Buncombe County!

Our volunteers provide much-needed socialization and enrichment for our animals, assist staff in daily cleaning activities, provide support for all departments, and offer their varied expertise in many different ways each day. Our foster families help us save lives by providing a temporary, loving and restful retreat for animals in need. Volunteers and foster families also have the opportunity to receive additional training with our Behavior Department through a variety of seminars and classes.
