The Mountain Shag Club Inc. was formed in November 1988 as a non-profit corporation and is a member of the Association of Carolina Shag Clubs. We have 100+ members from Western North Carolina, Tennessee, South Carolina and the surrounding areas. Our club parties take place in Asheville and Hendersonville, N.C. Blue Ridge Center

Blue Ridge Center provides counseling for yourth and families, including substance-abusing adolescents; family preservation services for high-risk families; and specialized services for severely emotionally disturbed children. Psychological testing available for youth and adult clients.

Asheville Nurse Support is a two prong support organization founded by nurses to provide professional leadership and development for nurses as well as offer unique support for caregivers and patients!


Nurse Support is unique in our ability to network and connect patients and caregivers in the complex health system to meet their needs for optimal patient outcomes. We are able to offer support to families in urgent, temporary crisis situations.


In addition we are continually striving to enhance the nursing profession through clinical coaching. We connect nurses and nursing students with one-on-one face-to-face education, mentoring and preceptors in a private setting with expert nurses.

Club W, the YWCA Health & Fitness Center

Club W, the YWCA Health & Fitness Center offers a fitness room with strength training equipment, weights and the latest technology in cardio equipment. Yoga, cardio, meditation, and pilates classes are offered in the YWCA fitness studio. Participants also have access to an indoor heated indoor pool for water exercise and lap swimming. For years, the 18,000 square foot YMI building was the social and economic center of Asheville’s Black community. Currently YMI is a cultural center operating with support from the City of Asheville. Its impressive Tudor-style structure is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and features four galleries and a 300-seat performing arts theatre.
