Grab a stitchin’ friend and choose your own knitting adventure from our list of Sock Monkey, Rocket Scientist, & Sock Ninja classes! (see below) Class topic scheduled & registration fee paid a week in advance. Minimum of 2 students needed for class. If you don’t see the topic you are interested in, ask us. $20 per person per class ($10 for Purl’s Scouts or Free for Scouts if a Sock Monkey Level class). Materials needed dependent upon class choice.
SOCK MONKEY LEVEL CLASSES:
* Yarn 101: Learn differences bet. fibers & weights of yarn, reading yarn labels, how yarn choice impacts project, etc.
* Got Gauge: Understand the importance of and skills needed in gaining recommended gauge for knitting.
* Survival Skills: Learn to read your stitches; pick up a dropped stitch; flip a stitch; frog; tink; put in a lifeline.
* Ravelry 101: Get acquainted with your new favorite web site, including setting up your queue, stash, search functions, etc.
* Patterns 101: Get the skills to follow a pattern.
ROCKET SCIENTIST LEVEL
* Cast Ons & Bind Offs: Many ways to start and finish.
* Magic Loop: Knitting in the round just got easier!
* Grafting & Seaming: Finishing school.
* Short Rows: Shaping, wrap and turn.
* Lace: Holes in your knitting. On purpose!
* Cables: Ribs that cross over each other.
* Entrelac: Modular knitting that looks like woven strips.
* Stranded/Fair Isle: Repeated patterns in 2 or more colors.
* Intarsia: Multicolor pictures in your knitting.
* Double Knitting: colorwork on both sides at once.
* Sock Clinic: Help casting on, binding off, heel, toe, or planning a toe-up or top-down sock (1 or 2 at a time).
SPECIAL ($35 one skein, $10 per extra skein/blank)
* Yarn Dyeing: Hand dye your own skein(s) of yarn or sock blank in a session with Purl’s experienced dyer.
