Join us for an evening with author J.S. Breukelaar as she talks about her latest book, “Collision: Stories” with Nathan Ballingrud, award-winning author of “Wounds,” now a motion picture.
From J.S. Breukelaar, author of novels “American Monster” and the critically acclaimed Aurealis Award finalist “Aletheia,” comes a collection of twelve of her darkest, finest speculative fiction tales, including 4 brand new works, one a novella. While Breukelaar’s stories live in the realm of the uncanny and the unexpected, in the dark corners and the spaces in between, their themes are all too familiar. Whether dealing with loss in the gothic strangeness of “Union Falls,” revenge in the weird mythos of “Ava Rune,” discrimination in the wreckage of “Collision,” or displacement in the heartbreaking dystopia of “Glow,” these memorable works shimmer, spark, and at times even writhe on the page.
J.S. Breukelaar is a columnist and instructor at LitReactor.com and you can also find her at www.thelivingsuitcase.com.
Nathan Ballingrud was born in Massachusetts in 1970, but spent most of his life in the South. He studied literature at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and at the University of New Orleans. Among other things, he has been a cook on oil rigs and barges, a waiter, and a bartender in New Orleans. He now lives in Asheville, NC, with his daughter in an apartment across from the French Broad River.
