Join a special musical and dance performance by Emmalee Hunnicutt, Isa Bowser and Jonny Rhum!
Emmalee Hunnicutt explores the subtleties of sound with her inventive cello playing. Classically trained from a young age, she brings an intimate understanding of the cello to her compositions and improvisations. Working in the realms of texture and emotion, her work acknowledges the mysterious nature of art and life. In addition to writing and performing as a solo artist, she is also part of a number of collaborative projects including Mountain Bitters and Library of Babel. Isa Bowser is a dance and movement artist who has been exploring her body’s unique expression since before she learned to walk. From childhood onward, she has studied many dance forms including Modern, Contemporary, West African, Butoh and Contact Improvisation.
Isa believes dance is an empathetic art form, with the ability to embody and enliven both the performer and the viewer. The dance is a ritual of vitality, an expression of our creative forces, and a method of storytelling. In her improvisations, Isa plays freely in her body and her relationship to effort and joy. Her body often wants to twist, melt, vibrate, explode and distort in an effort to express the intuitive process alive in her.
Jonny Rhum is a professional listener.
In his off time, he gives his life to: Embodying moments and stringing them together into momentums of musical movement.
Spire: breath or spirit.
Respire: spirit again.
Conspire: to breath together.
Here the joys of saxophone can be shared with others. Many thanks to his parents, his teachers, and all the people who have played with him over the years in Kokomo, Atlanta, and Asheville.
Movement springing from:
The Way of The Mongoose
and
A Strongheart Method
With a love for varying speed, spirals, spectrums, and stillness. Jonathan recognizes that in consciously choosing our movements, actions, and sounds:
We shift the center of our experience.
Let us find ourselves moving through balance in the most beautiful of places.
