Protecting the Wintering Grounds of Migratory Birds
Holly Roberston of the American Bird Conservancy
Tuesday, May 21 at 7 p.m.
Reuter Center, UNCA
The American Bird Conservancy is a non-profit organization whose mission is conserving native birds and their habitats throughout the Americas. At the May EMAS program meeting, ABC’s Senior Development Officer, Holly Robertson, will speak about their BirdScape initiative. The mission of BirdScape is to define large, priority landscapes throughout the Americas that support populations of migratory birds of highest conservation concern. ABC is working with multiple partners to create a region-wide effort to protect bird habitat. Their overall vision is to realize “an Americas-wide landscape where diverse interests collaborate to ensure that native bird species and their habitats are protected, where their protection is valued by society, and where they are routinely considered in all land-use and policy decision-making.”
EMAS programs are free and open to the public. An optional $5 donation is requested only at our May program to support our Birdathon fundraiser. Thank you!
