Our “End of Prohibition” Party continues on from Wednesday to Thursday with Tonic Thursday’s! This Thursday, The Poe House is very excited to be pairing up with local distillery The Chemist. Developed out of a notion similar to the days of Prohibition, when alcohol was banned and a desperate necessity was born. Back-room dealings, bootleg smuggling and despicable crimes rose to uncontrollable levels (the total opposite of what the 18th Amendment set out to do, right?). But they also say where there’s a will, there’s a way. Or as was the case at the neighborhood speakeasy, where there was a chemist there was a way. And the longer the ‘dry’ spell continued, the more inventive chemists became, turning contraband bars into happy-hour science labs. Thats the origin of their name: The Chemist. The refined science of fine spirits, artfully crafted right in Asheville, NC.
Join The Poe House this Thursday as we use The Chemist artfully crafted spirits in handcrafted cocktails at The Poe House. Cocktails available from 4 p.m. to close and distillery reps from The Chemist will be at The Poe House from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Stop by and introduce yourselves and try a cocktail or two (or 3 ?) while your there.
