We’re looking for new volunteers to join our Stream Monitoring Information Exchange project (SMIE). With sampling season just around the corner we’re offering a workshop to train new ‘Water Warriors!’
RSVP IS REQUIRED.

Join over 100 local volunteers to help sample local streams for water quality. Learn to identify aquatic insects and why they are important for healthy rivers and creeks. Adult volunteers will be trained in water quality sampling methods for use in a long-term monitoring project at sites in Haywood, Madison, Buncombe, Yancey and Mitchell Counties. No experience necessary.

Volunteer Expectations:
Volunteers will attend training and then work in small groups with leaders to sample a minimum of two sites. Volunteers will be responsible for sampling twice a year, once in fall and once in the spring season (2-3 hrs per site).

RSVP IS REQUIRED call 828-357-7411 or [email protected]
$15-20 Donation requested for material costs.
