2013 Asheville Oktoberfest

Warning: Information you find on this page may be outdated or incorrect.

On Saturday, October 12, Downtown Asheville’s Coxe Avenue will transform into “Little Germany” for the Asheville Downtown Association’s 5th Annual Oktoberfest, presented by Harmony Motors.

Oktoberfest is a 21 and over festival, we encourage you to leave the kids at home. If you must bring children, those 8 and up must have a designated driver ticket. Children under 7 will be admitted free. Designated driver tickets are available for $15.

Internationally-renowned “oompah” band, The Stratton Mountain Boys, returns to the stage with happy yodeling songs, shoe-slapping dances and lively spirited Polka music sure to incite dancing in the street and rousing cheers of “ein Prosit!”

The event features beer tastings from local breweries including Asheville Brewing Company, Catawba Valley Brewing Company, French Broad Brewery, Green Man Brewery, Highland Brewing Company, Hi-Wire Brewing, Lexington Avenue Brewery (LAB), Oskar Blues Brewery, Pisgah Brewing, Sierra Nevada Brewing Company, with many brewers featuring seasonal ales for Oktoberfest. The brewers will also be on hand to discuss their beers. More breweries may be added.

The popular Oktoberfest Games, which pit local brewery teams against each other, are back with some old favorites like the “Stein race” and “keg-rolling” as well as some new games. Plus, there will be a festival-wide costume contest, so don your lederhosen and represent. A schedule of events will be available soon.

Satisfy your craving for Oktoberfest cuisine with German staples like bratwurst, pretzels and traditional sides from food vendors.

This is a limited capacity event so get your tickets today! Tickets are $25 until September 9. They will increase to $30 on September 10 and $35 on October 10. If tickets are still available the day of the festival, they will be $40. Tickets include a commemerative sample mug.
