UNC Asheville Men’s Soccer Wins First Conference Victory in Double Overtime

The men’s soccer team won their first conference victory of the season at home against Longwood University (3-2) in double overtime in their recent matchup.

The first half featured 11 shots for the Bulldogs, two of which were on goal. However, Longwood would score the first goal for the period at the 3:45 mark by Michael Margulis with an assist from Marten Pajunurm.

Going into the second half Asheville scored their first goal by Zach Joens with an assist from Richie Lee. Following up on the Bulldog’s point Longwood scored again by Mo Jalloh with an assist from Dan Campos. The Bulldogs had a total of seven shots with three on goal.

At the 86:04 mark Zack Compton scored again for the UNC Asheville with an assist from Zach Joens. This goal (2-2) tied the Bulldogs with Longwood sending the game into overtime.

Following the first overtime with no goals for either team, the Bulldogs manage to score the golden goal at the 108:27 mark by Zach Joens with an assist from Chuka Anyafo.
