Annual Land of the Sky Chorus Show on Father’s Day

On Father’s Day eve, Saturday, June 15, the Land of the Sky Chorus will present a musical and comedic program titled “What About Dad??”

For years, the 3rd Sunday in June is set aside as Father’s Day. Dads are special and a huge part of who we are. How do we honor them? Just think how many gifts, notes, poems, hugs and kisses have been tossed to our dads over the years on Father’s Day. But admit it; Mother’s Day has always been a bigger deal. That’s good, but “What about dad?”

Help Land of the Sky even up the score a little. Now is your chance to do something unusual and special to celebrate and honor your guy, be he current, prospective, or remembered.

Funny songs, sentimental songs, stories, and anecdotes about dads and families will delight and entertain. You’ll laugh, you’ll sigh, and you’ll tap your feet. In addition to the “Land of the Sky Barbershop Chorus”, performers will include “Boardwalk”, an internationally known comedy quartet from Atlanta, “ShBoom” our regional kings of doo-wop, “Acapella Brewing”, a mixed sextet bringing you modern tight harmony acapella; There’s a hot new quartet, “Just In Time”, and a well known story teller on top of all the rest. Our MC will be Tami Ruckman, Director of Development with Eliada Homes whose father was a long term fanatical Barbershopper.

How many loud ties, barbeque utensils, sweaters that almost fit, funny coffee mugs, pithy refrigerator magnets, cordless drills, music albums, games, and gift certificates has Dad received over the years? This year give him something really special and bring him and your whole family to “WHAT ABOUT DAD???”

The performance will take place at Asheville High School Auditorium. Parking is free. Further information and tickets can be obtained online at AshevilleBarbershop.com or “Land of the Sky Chorus” on Facebook: $5 for students, free for under 6yo, and $15 for the rest of us.

Oh, and by the way, check out the high value raffle package called “Dad’s weekend in Asheville” on the Land of the Sky web page above. The value is over $1200 with only 100 chances offered. You don’t have to be present at the show to win; it’s $15/chance.
