Asheville’s Independent Restaurant Association Releases Statement in Support of Masks

A clear message is cooking in light of the recent surge of COVID-19: Dining out? Wear a mask.

As of Aug. 18, Buncombe County requires all citizens, residents and visitors of the county to wear face coverings in any indoor spaces and public places. This includes restaurants, bars and other dining establishments – and this includes while sitting at the table unless actively eating or drinking.

Asheville’s Independent Restaurant Association urges all guests to practice the “3-Ws” wearing a mask, washing your hands, waiting at least 6 feet apart when dining out, as it is vital in supporting a safe dining experience and also for the safety of guests, staff and the entire community. Please also be aware that some AIR restaurants may also require proof of vaccination.

“We love our community and we love serving our guests. We are hoping that using these precautions, we are ensuring that we can support our member restaurants and staff, while maintaining the health and safety of all of our patrons,” said Jane Anderson, AIR Executive Director. “We want to protect our staff, our guests, and do our part to prevent any further restrictions becoming necessary.”
