Mission Health recently received a Certificate of Need approval for two new ERs to serve the Western North Carolina area, both as departments of Mission Hospital.
One will be located near the corner of Hendersonville Road (US 25) and Airport Road in South Asheville and the other will be to the west of Asheville, towards Candler.
“We are excited to be able to expand the quality care we provide at Mission Hospital’s ER in Asheville. Our neighbors to the south and west will soon have closer access to exceptional emergency care,” said Chad Patrick, CEO Mission Hospital.

Both will be fully functioning ERs, open 24/7 including:
- 12 patient rooms
- On-site diagnostic imaging (CT, x-ray, ultrasound) and clinical laboratory services
- Board-certified emergency physicians and ACLS-trained emergency nursing staff
- Will comply with the federal Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) regulations as well as appropriate state regulations
Approximate date for openings is projected to be late 2023.
