Asheville Police Department and Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office Launch Joint Patrol Efforts for Downtown Safety

The Asheville Police Department and Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office are starting a collaborative effort of joint patrols in downtown Asheville from 7 pm to 3 am on Fridays and Saturdays as part of the BCSO Downtown Initiative.

APD and BCSO are committed to fostering a safe and vibrant downtown atmosphere through coordinated patrols. This coordinated effort aims to increase law enforcement presence downtown and ensure the safety of residents, visitors, and businesses.

“The launch of joint patrol efforts between the Asheville Police Department and Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office represents a significant step forward in our collective mission to bolster downtown safety. By working together, we can more effectively address public safety concerns and maintain a secure environment for all,” said Mike Lamb, Interim Chief of the Asheville Police Department.

“These joint patrols with APD will serve to reassure our community members that they can feel safe when getting off work at late hours from bars or restaurants or when visiting our downtown area,” says Buncombe County Sheriff Quentin Miller.
